Hydrogen, producing electricity in fuel cells, is a versatile energy source, but with risks associated with flammability. Fuel cells use enclosures for protection which need ventilating to remove hydrogen emitted during normal operation or from supply system leaks. Passive ventilation, using buoyancy driven flow is preferred to mechanical systems. Performance depends upon vent design, size, shape, position and number. Vents are usually plain rectangular openings, but environmentally situated enclosures use louvres for protection. The effect of louvres on passive ventilation is not clear and has therefore been examined in this paper. Comparison ‘same opening area’ louvre and plain vent tests were undertaken using a 0.144 m3 enclosure with opposing upper and lower vents and helium leaking from a 4 mm nozzle on the base at rates from 1 to 10 lpm, simulating a hydrogen leak. Louvres increased stratified level helium concentrations by typically in excess of 15%. The empirical data obtained was also used in a validation exercise with a SolidWorks: Flow Simulation CFD model, which provided a good qualitative representation of flow behaviour and close empirical data correlations. 相似文献

Nanoparticles like quantum confined ZnS semiconductor nanocrystals, exhibit unique structure-property relationships. Narrow particle size distributions (PSDs) become one of the most important factors to tailor product performance. Size selective precipitation has already been proven to be an effective post processing strategy for ZnS nanoparticles. It is based on the titration of a poor liquid into a stable dispersion, which leads to the preferred flocculation of larger particles. Afterwards, these flocks must be separated from the continuous phase. While on lab scale the formed flocks can be easily separated by centrifugation from the fine fraction, for larger scale production using continuous processes, new concepts are urgently needed. Herein we developed a filtration process for flock removal that allows the handling of larger quantities. For process design, we first investigated the flock properties in order to know how stable the generated flocks are and how the flock properties can be controlled. Then, we replaced the classical flock separation by centrifugation through separation by surface filtration under the constraint that the underlying separation efficiency was not affected. By the future use of properly controlled, alternating filtration modules, our work opens the door for establishing an urgently needed, scalable post-processing for sub-10 nm nanoparticles. 相似文献

Commonly used flow rate measurement systems provide an accurate and stable output value of the quasi-stationary flow rate. In some pump types as e.g. single-blade pumps significant flow rate fluctuations may occur even in steady operation points due to rotor-stator interaction. For the analysis of the time-resolved flow rate a new measurement and evaluation method is presented based on an electromagnetic flow meter. Internal averaging of the flow meter is deactivated and the raw signal is evaluated directly with a sampling rate of 3 kHz. With ensemble-averaging in combination with an impeller position detection, interfering signals acting on the time-resolved measurement signal are filtered out. Accompanying numerical simulations of the pump flow circuit are carried out with a 1D method of characteristics and validated against well-established time-resolved pressure measurements of the pump flow. Experiment and simulation show a resembling trend of pressure as well as flow rate fluctuations over the entire operation range of the pump. Thus, by the combined utilisation of measurement and simulation technique, we assure the validity of the ensemble-averaged flow rate fluctuation results. We find that the flow rate fluctuations show a consistent phase shift to the pressure fluctuations that increases towards overload. Imperfections in the manufacturing process of flow measuring probes affect their measuring behavior. Nevertheless, in order to provide the highest possible accuracy, each individual multi-hole pressure probe has to be calibrated before using them in turbomachinery. This paper presents a novel method based on artificial neural networks (ANN) to predict the flow parameters of multi-hole pressure probes. A two-stage ANN approach using multilayer perceptron (MLP) is proposed in this study. The two-stage prediction approach involves two MLP networks, which represent the calibration data and the prediction error. For a given set of inputs, outputs from both networks are combined to estimate the measured value. The calibration data of a 5-hole probe at RWTH Aachen was used to develop and validate the proposed ANN models and two-stage prediction approach. The results showed that the ANN can predict the flow parameters with high accuracy. Using the two-stage approach, the prediction accuracy was further improved compared to polynomial functions, i.e. a commonly used method in probe calibration. Furthermore, the proposed approach offers high interpolation capabilities while preventing overfitting (i.e. failure to fit new data). Unlike polynomials, it is shown that the ANN based method can provide accurate predictions at intermediate points without large oscillations. 相似文献

针对变流量制冷(Variable Refrigerant Flow,VRF)系统变吸气状态下带液量的精确控制以及控制元件所引起的滞后或超调现象,以变频滚动转子式制冷系统为研究对象,分别通过恒定频率不同阀开度与恒定阀开度不同频率两个实验,建立其单独控制下的拟合模型,得到其在不同工况下的同步控制方法。结果表明:过热度随阀开度的增大而减小,在过热度为6 K以下,即阀开度为27.8%~30%时,过热度控制难度上升,提高冷冻水温度可改善这一状况;过热度随频率的降低而减小,在过热度为5 K以下,即频率为44.5~46.5 Hz时,控制难度上升;吸气干度随阀开度增大而下降,随频率降低而减小;在某一工况下,以系统质量流量为控制目标,可以拟合得到频率与阀开度的关系式,实现同步控制,在变吸气状态可以精确控制吸气干度,不损坏压缩机,并使系统迅速达到稳定状态。 相似文献

This paper concerns a state feedback integral control using a Lyapunov function approach for a rotary direct drive servo valve (RDDV) while considering parameter uncertainties. Modeling of this RDDV servovalve reveals that its mechanical performance is deeply influenced by friction torques and flow torques; however, these torques are uncertain and mutable due to the nature of fluid flow. To eliminate load resistance and to achieve satisfactory position responses, this paper develops a state feedback control that integrates an integral action and a Lyapunov function. The integral action is introduced to address the nonzero steady-state error; in particular, the Lyapunov function is employed to improve control robustness by adjusting the varying parameters within their value ranges. This new controller also has the advantages of simple structure and ease of implementation. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed controller can achieve higher control accuracy and stronger robustness. 相似文献
